Giving back, in our sector and close to our people’s hearts
Supporting good causes has been an integral part of Scope since we were founded in 2009. We do it in four main ways: Charities of Choice, Volunteering, the Scope Community Fund and the Compassionate Relief Fund.

Scope Community Fund: funding the causes our people choose
Every quarter, our people nominate a charity to receive funding from Scope. The amount available has grown from up to 2,000 to 3,750 in local currency per charity, so we can give greater support to the causes that matter most to our teams.
One recent recipient, BUMBLEance, is Ireland’s only dedicated children’s ambulance service, providing free, child-friendly journeys to lifesaving care for children with complex medical needs.

Charities of Choice
Supporting individuals with vision loss, and their families
Our three Charities of Choice provide specialist services and empower people with vision loss in each of our main markets.
Ireland
Vision Ireland
Our support helped turn the vision of a mobile eye health screening service into reality, from its design and construction to its full equipment.
The Vision Van is Ireland’s only state-of-the-art mobile eye health screening unit operated by a charity. It travels to towns and villages nationwide, using a fundus camera to screen for treatable and preventable conditions and removing the “no time for an eye test” barrier.

United Kingdom
RSBC Dorton College
RSBC Dorton College in Bromley is the only independent specialist further education provider for vision impaired young people in London and the South East, blending mainstream and specialist education for 16 to 25-year-olds.
Each year we sponsor the Scope Achievement Award at the college’s Awards Ceremony, celebrating a student whose strength and perseverance show what’s possible when resilience is met with opportunity and support.
United States
Perkins School for the Blind
Founded in 1829, Perkins was the first school for the blind in the United States. Today it continues to open doors to education, literacy and independence for people who are blind, visually impaired and deafblind.
We support the Perkins CVI Center in leading the response to Cortical Visual Impairment, the foremost cause of childhood blindness in the US, through awareness, training and resources for families and educators.

#VolunteeringAtScope
Time is one of the most meaningful things we can give
Every employee receives a paid day off each year to support a cause that matters to them. From England and Wales Blind Golf to bucket collections with Pieta House and packing essentials for families with Little Essentials in New York, our people show up for their communities.

Compassionate Relief Fund
When crisis strikes, we act
Through the Compassionate Relief Fund we donate a minimum of £10,000 every year to a reputable humanitarian relief organisation, benchmarked against internationally recognised charities and reported transparently in our IMPACT Report.
Our chosen partner is UNICEF UK’s Children’s Emergency Fund, which enables a response within 48 hours when disaster strikes. We’ve committed to supporting it for a further three years. The fund supports UN Sustainable Development Goals 1 and 2: no poverty and zero hunger.
