Our impact, pillar by pillar
Founded in 2009 by John and Tom Freyne, Scope is a family business in the truest sense: in how it operates, how it treats its people, and what it believes a business can and should be. We see responsible business as an opportunity to improve the quality of life of our people, our patients and our planet.
People
Giving back to causes in our sector and close to our people’s hearts
We support children with vision loss through our Charities of Choice, give every colleague a paid volunteering day, fund causes our people nominate and respond to humanitarian crises.
£60,000+
donated to charitable causes in 2025
Patients
Turning patient insight into education and support
We listen directly to patients through our annual survey, shape education around what they tell us, and partner with patient organisations to amplify their voices.

Planet
Thinking carefully about the footprint of everything we do
We design waste out of our products, bring manufacturing closer to market and back recycling initiatives across eye care, on our journey to net zero.
2045
our target year to reach net zero

A message from our CEO
“It’s proof that a family-run business with patient care at its core can be a genuine force for good.”
Tom Freyne
Chief Executive Officer, Scope
Our mission hasn’t changed: to become a leading force in eyecare with people at our core. What continues to evolve is how deeply it takes root. We keep deepening our commitment to responsible business, strengthening our alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and focusing our investment where it can do the most good: our people, patients, partners and planet.
None of it happens without culture. Scope has never simply employed people; it’s a community that energises them, combining real expertise with genuine compassion. Behind every figure in this report is a person. That is what we’re here for.
